NECS Cleaning Have Moved | Northumberland

After celebrating a 10-year anniversary in January, NECS will take an expansive step forward by opening a new North East head office. Headquartered in Cramlington, Northumberland, the contract cleaning company will continue to provide services to companies from the Midlands right up to the Scottish central belt.

NECS directors Gary Breach and Leigh Breach previously used their home office as the company’s HQ, but the time for expansion came. Now that a new office has been acquired, NECS can employ extra support staff to work in more spacious surroundings. This step has enabled NECS to future-proof a secure infrastructure for the business.

Based at the Apex Business Park, Northumberlandnew office

Having lived and worked in Cramlington for 10 years, Gary and Leigh knew there was only place where they wanted to open the new office. Following a search of the local area, they eventually chose the Apex Business Park for its superb transport links.

Being situated so close to the A19/A1 will make it more efficient for NECS managers to travel to the new HQ, while Gary and Leigh can get out on the road quicker to visit clients. NECS has even secured a prominent position at the entrance to the park, helping to increase brand awareness. Meanwhile, Gary and Leigh are situated just three miles from their home.

“We are both very excited about this move into new office space at Apex. With 10 years trading behind us and looking to the future we felt that the time was right to make this investment and ensure we can continue to deliver the same high standards of cleaning and our ISO accreditations whilst we continue to grow and expand the business.” – Gary Breach MD.

New staff at NECS Cleaning

Moving forward, the Northumberland HQ will employ three full-time staff members, with managers visiting as and when required. Over the next 12 months, NECS expects to create two new jobs and increase to five permanent staff members in Cramlington.

Elaine Dixon is one of the more recent additions, having taken on the role of Admin and Operations Support. Elsewhere in the company, a new Area Supervisor (Stephen Kee) has joined to assist Manchester Area Manager Darren Street, who has trained Stephen to work with his own customer base. In addition, five new cleaners have been employed since January 2016, helping to expand the 170+ team that is already in place.

Fresh Cleaning Contracts

NECS can also report good news on the client front, having signed a number of new clients during the past 12 months, including law firms and industrial sites. The scope of the contracts will require NECS to provide a wealth of cleaning services comprising of carpet cleaning, deep cleaning of floors and window cleaning, along with washroom and feminine hygiene services.

NECS Maintain High Standards with ISO Certification Renewal

As you may be aware, in October 2014 we were awarded no fewer than three ISO accreditations in recognition of the standard of our quality management, environmental management, and occupational health and safety.

We are proud to say that after our annual external audits last month, our ISO accreditations have been renewed. Such accreditations are not handed out without being able to fully demonstrate the highest possible standards, and so we would like to explain what these accreditations mean to us, and of course to our customers.

The three standards we have met are:

ISO 9001

This standard relates to quality management and means that we strive to maintain an extremely high level of work across all of our operations. This is the most well-respected and widely recognised quality management standard in the world, and has been awarded due to our commitment to achieving a consistently high level of service.

ISO 14001

As an environmentally conscious company, ISO 14001 is dear to our hearts as it relates to  maintaining an approach of environmental responsibility. Over the years we have put an effective environmental management system in place, meaning that as well as trying to provide the best possible service economically, we never forget our commitment to minimising any negative impact on the environment. We find that many of our customers also have such an approach to work, which is why this environmental standard is so welcome.

OHSAS 18001

Health and safety should be extremely important to any business, and it certainly is to us. OHSAS 18001 is all about occupational health and safety, and ensuring that our staff are always well looked after. A safe workplace is very important and we have again renewed our pledge to providing this for everyone working for us, throughout the country.

These ISO accreditations underline our commitment to being a socially responsible employer, and a service provider which strives to operate in an ethical fashion. With many customers and employees in the Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds areas, as well as Scotland, we wish only to have a positive impact in everything we do.

If you would like to find out more about our accreditations or how we can help your business achieve its cleaning needs, simply contact us through our website or call our freephone number on 0800 3288933. We look forward to hearing from you.

Leigh

Get to know our HR Director, Leigh

Leigh has been involved with NECS from the very beginning since we launched in 2006. Up until 2008 however, we had to share her with the police force, her full time career. Having joined in 1999, her  training with the police was invaluable, training Leigh to deal with people and the law, so by the time she left the force, she had a really solid grounding. Northumberland born and bred, Leigh feels right at home working from our Head Office in Cramlington. She has been involved with NECS from the start, so she is particularly proud of our recent ISO audit pass – a real feather in the cap of the whole workforce.

Leigh is responsible for all of the HR activity at NECS, ably assisted by Elaine our Administrator and Jim, our Operations Manager. The Area Managers are also there to help – she manages recruitment, payroll, holidays, contracts and discipline. She puts her success down to good old fashioned hard work and dedication. Her years in the police force trained her well in seeing every task through to the end, which is a skill that will stay with her forever. Leigh is a very resilient person and as a shareholder and director of NECS she feels she has the motivation to go above and beyond.

When she isn’t dedicating her time to NECS and her colleagues, Leigh is particularly keen on keeping fit. Her family are very important to her and she loves nothing better than spending time on holiday with them, as long as it’s sunny – the Caribbean is her favourite destination. One of her best holiday memories is snorkeling with the sharks and stingrays that inhabit the beautiful Shipwreck Cay in the Bahamas. When she isn’t keeping fit, Leigh loves to watch Jordskott, the very popular crime series on TV. But it’s not all crime scenes and jail cells of course.

Leigh loves a chick flick as her guilty pleasure Dirty Dancing. She loves American Eighties Rock music, particularly Kiss and when she wants to dance all night, it is the Crazy Crazy Nights.

Leigh gets on well with everyone, which isn’t always the case with people who run Human Resources! She has been described by her colleagues as patient, loyal and diligent, qualities she brings to her work and home life in equal measure. It has to be said that Elaine has also likened her to Jennifer Aniston, but that might be because she is after a pay rise, cheeky thing!

Meet Jim, our new Operations Manager

necs-team-photo

Jim (far left) and the NECS team.

NECS is pleased to announce a new member of staff, who joined us in April. Jim Farrell has come to us from working at management level in the security sector and, as a native of Liverpool, he will be working close to home in the North West. He is our new Operations Manager and he will be our go-to guy for any clients who need to have a chat about their changing needs or if any of our services need comment. Jim hasn’t worked in the cleaning industry before so it is a bit of a change for him, but NECS know that their family of clients will go out of their way to make him welcome.

Family values

Jim is a great family man and his hobbies and interests all centre around this and here at NECS that’s what we like to hear. Family commitment is high on our priority list and we have found over the years that people in our teams who care deeply about family care deeply about clients and delivery of top notch service as well. Jim isn’t keen on joining in the social media revolution – in fact, he isn’t on Facebook, Twitter or any other social networks – leaving it to the younger members of his family but he is more than happy to talk on the phone or by email; he is perfectly happy on computers, just doesn’t choose to use them for chat!

Aiming to be the best

Jim is a self-effacing sort of bloke, so it is hard to get him to talk about himself (see views on social media above!) but one thing that he is always keen to share is that he always aims to give the best service possible and always aims to make sure that he is amongst the best of his peers; there’s no slacking from Jim! Although he is new to the cleaning industry, he brings his twenty years plus experience in managing in prisons, courts and the security business with him to NECS. This is a very stressful sector in which to work, with split second decisions being constantly made to uphold the high standards to which everyone must aspire and although we hope that NECS won’t be quite so challenging, we are really happy to have Jim join us, with the very special skills he has honed.

Office Cleaning Scotland

Our Scotland business venture!

In another exciting venture, we here at NECS are delighted to announce a brand new contract for High Level Cleaning for a company based in Dalkeith, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We really will be flying high with this one – our team will be working on a scissor lift over a weekend to clean all the walls and the roof space of our new client’s warehouse and production area. This is a real challenge which we will be rising to (no pun intended!) with our usual commitment to quality and detailed cleaning.

In Edinburgh itself we are coming down to earth a little with a new contract for the regular cleaning of a small but exceptionally busy hotel which is situated just off the Royal Mile. Our teams will be responsible for all the cleaning in the business, from the basic room cleaning to doing the laundry and making up the beds. Any hotel in such a busy tourist centre needs to be on top of their game right through the season and beyond and we are delighted that the owners have chosen NECS – we look forward to providing them with a great service which will be a large part in making visitors’ trips to Scotland enjoyable.

It’s not all just about Edinburgh, though – we are definitely on the move in Scotland over the next two years. For 2015, we are looking to develop our customer base across the central belt, taking in such towns and cities as Paisley, Dunbar, Glasgow, Falkirk and Ayr. Then, in 2016, we intend to expand still further north, taking on new business in Dundee and Aberdeen.

Our Scottish expansion is already very exciting, but it can only get better. Tourism is a huge market share in the Scottish economy and we are hoping that our experience in the Edinburgh hotel this summer will fit us very well for expanding into hotels, guesthouses and bed and breakfasts all over the country by the end of the season next year. NECS are well known for their superlative cleaning and attention to detail, as well as keeping to a timetable and delivering the remit exactly. In the hotel trade this is vital, so we would love to hear of any businesses where our expertise can help.

Meanwhile, our high-flying team in Dalkeith are getting a bit of a taste for the high life, so we look forward to more High Level Cleaning jobs to keep them happy!

Window Cleaning

Growing success for NECS!

We’ve had a busy but exciting first quarter here at NECS and we’re delighted to inform you of our growing success. This growth comes in the form of new contracts across the West Midlands. In 2013, our Midlands business venture was launched as a result of growing enquiries and demand in the area.

These new contracts differ in terms of where clients are based and are a mixture of offices and industrial sites located in Birmingham. Many of these contracts include daily office cleaning and in some cases, high level cleaning, deep cleans and window cleaning – all of which are ongoing.

We do all the dirty work that you don’t want to do!

Our services in and around Birmingham are varied: from daily office cleaning, polishing the desks and vacuuming floors to scrubbing down canteens after busy meal times and cleaning the toilet block, and even to high level cleaning using access equipment. The services attract companies of all sizes such as schools, universities, restaurants  and other office based work places.

But we don’t stop there!

Business is booming and we’re continuing to expand across the Midlands, having secured contracts in Lutterworth, Nottingham, Grantham and Newark.

So why choose NECS?

Our hard working team of dedicated professionals do their utmost to deliver the highest standard of cleaning services to you and your business. We understand that cleaning requirements from business to business vary, which is why we tailor our services to work around you. Whether you require daily office cleaning, dusting and vacuuming, facilities management or a deep industrial clean, our foremost priority is to deliver exceptional customer service.

If you think our services could benefit you, please feel free to give us a call and we’ll be happy to help.

We’ve had the best first quarter yet and hope to see our success continue into the rest of 2015! Where will our next business venture be, and when?!

Specialist Cleaning

Office Cleaning Services are an Economical Solution

If you are one of the few remaining businesses who employ their own cleaners to keep the office looking good, perhaps it is time you reconsidered. If you have had a team of cleaners for some time you may not realise the extra costs, over and above wages, that you are probably incurring. It is worth looking at the bottom line, because office cleaning services are priced to be affordable and come with many advantages

How big is your staff?

Certain employment rules apply only when your staff is over a certain size, so it is worth considering savings in employers’ liability insurance and other costs if your cleaning staff are what takes you over a threshold. Office cleaning services are hired as a whole; you are not the employer of anyone who comes to clean for you. For some companies this alone makes it worthwhile taking on outside contractors, but there are other major savings to be made.

Latest Cleaning Equipment

It is amazing how many offices expect the cleaning staff to do a perfect job with a domestic vacuum cleaner and a couple of dusters. An office cleaning services company will have only the very best equipment and can sail through the work in half the time, doing a better job while they are at it. This is especially useful if your office keeps long hours – no one wants to work into the night to the drone of a clapped-out hoover. By having professionals on the task, not only will the environment be much cleaner, they can be in and out much more quickly, causing less disruption and keeping productivity up.

Always working, never off sick or on holiday

If you employ two cleaners, there will be a minimum of eight weeks a year when you only have one – and that’s just allowing for annual leave. When you add in a couple of weeks for sick leave, you could be looking at 20% of the year covered at half strength. When you employ office cleaning services, you will always have the right number of staff on the job for you, with no reduction in standards or extra time taken. Also, you won’t have to consider things like maternity leave or extended time off. Although you might feel that your cleaners don’t cost you much, when you look at the bottom line you might need to consider whether you can afford not to have professional office cleaning services instead.

NECS Car

New mobile cleaning vehicle for our North East fleet!

We are very proud to introduce our new NECS-branded mobile cleaning vehicle. It’s our eighth vehicle, and the signage has just been completed.

It’ll be driven across the North East by our new mobile cleaner, who has been recruited to help our managers Jim and Lisa cover staff holidays and sickness.

So, if you find yourself stuck in the Newcastle traffic (particularly the A1 Western Bypass!) and you see our new mobile cleaning wagon roll past, on the way to its next project, be sure to give us a wave!
